Today it’s time to leave Isaba and head towards Navarra’s Middle Zone. Do you want to go straight? We suggest linking the Roncal Valley with the Salazar Valley to Ochagavía on a magical road between beech forests, moss, and streams; follow from Güesa to Igal Heights to Vindángoz and return to the Roncal Valley to continue south. Pass by Javier Castle and Sangüesa, with its Santa María la Real church, and arrive at the medieval village of Old Gallipienzo, where we await you at the Heredad Beragu Hotel. Settle in, relax, enjoy some wines in its beautiful garden or medieval lounge, and dine with local and seasonal products, including Navarra’s magnificent vegetables.
Recommendations: Stop in Ochagavía and take a walk around the village. Enjoy an organic meal at Azpea Wineries in Lumbier and explore the Foz de Lumbier on foot. Visit Javier Castle, admire the Santa María la Real portal in Sangüesa.

Shall we go to the desert? The contrast from the Pyrenees will amaze you. You’re following the path that the flocks of the Roncal and Salazar valleys have taken for hundreds of years, descending from the high valleys of the Pyrenees to the Bardenas Desert for the winter. Along the way, you’ll pass by San Martín de Unx with its excellent wines, Olite with its well-preserved Royal Palace, and near the Ribera of Navarra. Between the towns of Valtierra and Arguedas, we venture into the desert on a dirt track to the Virgen del Yugo and steppe landscapes to the curious formation of Castildetierra. The return will take us along the Carcastillo road, passing by the Cistercian Monastery of La Oliva, skirting the Bardenas until returning to Heredad Beragu.
Recommendations: Visit the wineries of San Martin de Unx. Walk through Olite and tour the Royal Palace. Admire the Bardenas from the Bardena Blanca Viewpoint. Enjoy vegetables prepared by Aitor Lorente at the Camino de las Bardenas Hotel Restaurant. Relax at the Monastery of La Oliva. Arrive back at Heredad Beragu for an evening of wines.
